The conversations that matter most

are the ones people are

least prepared to have.

People Skillz changes that.

People Skillz helps individuals, teams, and leaders have the difficult conversations they've been avoiding — with clarity, calm, and integrity.

After more than thirty years working across classrooms, studios, boardrooms, and mediation tables, one truth became impossible to ignore.

People don't break down in conversations because they lack intelligence or care.

They break down because of patterns — behavioral patterns that show up under pressure and take over before they've had a chance to think.

They break down because they were never taught how to stay steady when something feels tense, uncertain, or important.

And they break down because they aren't prepared — and they haven't had enough practice staying calm and regulated when it matters most.

Most people don't lack the desire to communicate well.

They lack the preparation and the practice.

People Skillz was built to address that gap — not with scripts or personality frameworks, but with a practical, pattern-based approach to understanding how you show up in conversations and building the capacity to respond with clarity and calm, even under pressure.

Why People Skillz Was Created

After decades of teaching, mediation, leadership development, and conflict work, across classrooms, communities, and professional settings, one truth became clear:

People don’t struggle in conversations because they lack intelligence.

They struggle because they were never taught how to stay steady inside tension.

People Skillz was built to give people something different —

a framework that is practical, respectful, and deeply human.

Instead of teaching scripts or personality types, we teach patterns —

because when you understand your pattern, you gain choice.

What Makes People Skillz Different

Practice Based - Not Personality Based

We focus on real behaviors you can practice immediately — not abstract concepts or personality categories. What you learn here, you can use today.

Calm Authority Approach

Strength without aggression. Clarity without control. The calmest person in the room has the most authority — and that's a skill, not a trait.

Rehearse it Before

it Counts

You don't have to make the real conversation your first attempt. Practice the hard talk privately — with a simulator that reacts like a real person — so you walk in calm and prepared.

People Skillz Offers:

Workshops — experiential, skill-based sessions for individuals, teams, and organizations. Available in person and online.

Retreats — immersive experiences for deeper work. Designed for people ready to go beyond surface-level communication and address what's actually happening.

Mediation — professional mediation services for individuals, families, and organizations navigating conflict, transition, or unresolved agreements.

Live Practice — ongoing community sessions where members prepare for and practice the conversations that matter most. This is where the skills become habits.

The Difficult Conversation Simulator App — practice the conversations you've been avoiding before you have to have them. Choose your scenario, pick how the other person shows up, and build the confidence to close your open loops. Try it free at try.pplskillz.com

Who's Behind This Work

II'm Robin Quinn Keehn — a Human Dynamics Specialist, certified mediator, and the author of Stop Stealing From Yourself.

I've spent more than thirty years observing what happens when people carry what doesn't belong — in families, in teams, in leadership, and in their own internal world. That observation became a body of work. That body of work became People Skillz.

My background spans education, organizational development, mediation, and facilitation — working with individuals, leaders, and teams across the United States and internationally.

What I've learned across all of it is this: most people are not one skill away from better conversations. They are one honest reckoning away.

When they close what's been open, say what needs to be said, and choose their commitments with full awareness — everything changes.

That's what this work is about.

I'm Nina Mercie — a mediator, facilitator, coach, and mindfulness practitioner with more than fifteen years of experience helping people navigate the moments that feel impossible to get through.

My work focuses on the places where trust breaks down, emotions run high, and conversation stops working.

I've worked alongside entrepreneurs and professionals in law enforcement, healthcare, hospitality, real estate, nonprofit, and education — and what I've found across all of it is the same:

Most conflict isn't about the issue on the table. It's about what's been left unspoken underneath it.

I'm completing my master's degree through the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law Straus Institute — and I bring that rigor into practical, real-world tools that actually work under pressure.

The Book

Stop Stealing From Yourself: Close the Open Loops That Quietly Drain Your Time, Energy, and Peace is the foundation of everything People Skillz teaches.

It introduces the CLOSE process — a five-step framework for taking any unfinished commitment from open to complete — and the PEACE framework for having the conversations most people spend years avoiding.
